DUBTONES: Blending their own mix of ska-punk since 2005, no apologies for hearing influences from The Clash and The Specials by way of The Ruts & The Jam, as the 4 piece Dublin band The Dubtones wear their influences on their sleeves! 2006 saw their first release, the “One For The Road” 6-track mini album, a hybrid of straight-up Punk Rock (Subhuman/Outside/One For The Road), Ska-punk (Neurotic/Cops Are On Their Way) & Dub-punk (Against The World). Constant gigging saw the band attract two tribes of fans, predictably enough they were immediately embraced by the punk fraternity, as the material matured the ska scene equally saw the appeal.
VULPYNES: Dublin, Ireland-based Punk Rock group Vulpynes have had a big impact on the punk music world. They reflect the rebellious spirit of Punk and infuse it with their distinctive flair through their raw and energising sound. The band’s fast-paced, violent guitar riffs, pounding drumming, and powerful vocals define its music. They maintain the original Punk principles while incorporating their own contemporary elements to produce a sound that is both familiar and fresh.
CULTURE SHOCK: The original ska-punk-reggae fusioneers, who from 86-89 woke up the alternative scene with their 3 albums and incessantly energetic touring, and are now reformed since 2013, with another 3 albums since then- onwards!
P.A.I.N: P.A.I.N play heavy dub reggae, good time ska, pissed off punk rock, and endeavour to keep their heads around the contradictory and confusing areas of radical politics. The Band has supported numerous underground struggles and pressure groups along the way.
HEADSTICKS: Formed in 2012, Stoke based Headsticks play a politically charged folk punk rock’n’roll and have built up a steady fan base through relentless gigging with some notable support slots. Fourth album C.O.W. was released in 2021 on Chapter 22 Records to strong reviews.
EASTFIELD: Eastfield have been the number one purveyors of “rail punk” since 1996 . Formed in Birmingham, UK, they combine an unashamed love of first generation BR diesel power with good punk ethics (animal rights, real ale, etc)and a healthy dose of self depreciation. Their lyrics are a mix of the satirical, ironic and angry delivered with a biting sense of humour. Live or recorded their guitar/drum driven sound provides a Rail Freight worthy tonnage of in your face punk sound with clear vocals that are worth listening to.
COAT HANGER SOLUTION: The debut album by Dublin’s The Coathanger Solution is a noisy angry affair comprising of catchy punk rock n’ roll hooks, witty yet hard hitting lyrics and fantastic musicianship.The Coathanger Solution have been going from strength to strength over the past few years of constant gigging around Ireland and are due to play their first UK gig in Blackpool this last August.
