Turn2Me and NewEra DJ duo encourage young people to “open up and speak up” this World Mental Health Day

In a powerful initiative aimed at promoting mental health awareness, popular DJ duo NewEra is teaming up with Turn2Me, a national mental health charity, to encourage young people to “open up and speak up” this World Mental Health Day, October 10th. This collaboration underscores the critical need to destigmatise mental health discussions and highlights the importance of seeking support from friends, family, or trained therapists.

In today’s fast-paced world, mental health challenges among young people are more prevalent than ever. NewEra and Turn2Me are urging young people in Ireland to share their feelings and experiences without fear of judgment. The duo, known for their electrifying performances and connection to the younger generation, recognises the vital role they can play in fostering an environment where mental health is openly discussed.

“Music has always been a powerful tool for expression, and we believe it can also serve as a catalyst for conversations about mental health,” said NewEra in a statement. “By partnering with Turn2Me, we hope to inspire young people to feel empowered to talk about what they’re going through. It’s okay to not be okay, and reaching out for help is a sign of strength. It’s not a sign of weakness.”

Turn2Me, which provides online mental health support, emphasises that talking about mental health is crucial to reducing stigma. Their platform offers resources, including professional therapy sessions and peer support, making mental health care accessible to all. “On this World Mental Health Day, we want to remind young people that they are not alone. Talking to someone—be it a friend, family member, or therapist—can be a lifeline,” said Turn2Me in a statement.

The partnership will include a series of social media campaigns aimed at raising awareness and providing practical tips for starting conversations about mental health. Participants are encouraged to share their stories and connect with others, reinforcing the message that opening up is the first step towards healing.

As the world gears up to observe World Mental Health Day, New Era and Turn2Me stand united in their mission: to break down barriers and foster an inclusive community where mental health is prioritised. Together, they aim to empower young people to embrace vulnerability, support one another, and seek help when needed.

Turn2Me is reminding young people that it offers up to six free counselling sessions to adults living in Ireland; free, unlimited support groups; a free meditation programme; and free helpful articles all on its website, Turn2Me.ie
