Mmm… International Chocolate Day
- Mon, 7 Jul 2014
In case you haven’t heard, it’s International Chocolate Day. So push the diets back another week, embrace your inner Willy Wonka, and indulge a little… or more than a little.
Today we had the very difficult job of taste testing the best chocolatiers in town and came up with this list.
- Lemon Crepe (William Street)
Lemon Crepe went all out for us with their Chocolate Special in crepe and Belgian waffle form. Nutella will never suffice again for the perfect crepe- they really outdid themselves with their dark chocolate chips and whipped cream topped crepes. They treated us to some amazing hot chocolates lined with marshmallows. If that doesn’t sound the right kind of chocolately for you, they also have a Banana Supreme and Coconut Dream chocolate options, perfect for today.
- Leonidas (Royal Hibernian Way & Jervis Street)
Perfect example of chocolate done right. Rows and rows of different Belgian chocolates from rum chocolates to praline fruit de mers and praline giantinas, it’s nearly impossible to not find something you’d love.
- Butlers Chocolates (Grafton Street, Wicklow Street, Henry Street &
Jervis Street)
Probably one of the first names you think of when you think of chocolate in the city, and very rightfully so. With shelves stocked from floor to ceiling with chocolatey gifts, it’s definitely worth a visit.
- Murphy’s Ice Cream (Wicklow Street)
Best known for its unique (and to-die-for) ice cream, Murphy’s also delivers some amazing creations for all the chocoholics out there. They surprised us with a three-scoop chocolate Sunday with whipped cream and chocolate straws, and a side of a spicy ‘Aztec’ hot chocolate.
We’ve finally rolled back to the office after probably one of the best tours you could do of a city. So put down your work, turn off your email, and go for a well deserved chocolate break somewhere in the city. I mean, come on, it is an international day of celebration after all.
