March is here and so is St Patrick’s Day in Dublin City Centre!

Ah, St. Patrick’s Day in Dublin—there’s nothing quite like it! As the big day approaches on Monday, 17th March 2025, the city is buzzing with excitement. Whether you’re a local or just visiting, here’s your guide to making the most of the festivities.

The Parade: A Must-See Spectacle

Kicking off at 12 pm sharp, the National St. Patrick’s Day Parade is the heart of our celebrations. This year, over half a million spectators are expected to line the streets to witness more than 4,000 participants, including marching bands from around the globe, vibrant performers, and extravagant floats. The parade route winds through the historic streets of Dublin, starting from Parnell Square and making its way down O’Connell Street, across the Liffey, and through Dame Street. For those looking to snag the best views, consider grabbing a seat in one of the grandstands located along the route. Tickets are available, but they sell out fast, so don’t delay!

Feast Like the Irish

After the parade, you’ll likely have worked up quite the appetite. Dublin’s eateries are pulling out all the stops with special menus to mark the occasion.

The Brazen Head at 20 Bridge Street is Ireland’s oldest pub, dating back to 1198. Steeped in history, this iconic venue provides a unique atmosphere where patrons can enjoy classic Irish dishes like seafood chowder, bangers and mash, and their famous beef and Guinness pie, all while soaking in centuries of Irish heritage.

The Stag’s Head, a Victorian-era pub situated at 1 Dame Court, is celebrated for its traditional Irish stew and perfectly crisp fish and chips. With its grand mahogany bar and vintage interiors, it offers an authentic Irish pub experience right in the heart of the city.

O’Donoghue’s on 15 Merrion Row is not just famous for its live traditional music sessions but also for its menu filled with Irish classics. From hearty stews to freshly baked soda bread, this iconic venue offers a warm and welcoming spot to enjoy a meal while tapping your foot to some lively Irish tunes.

Kehoe’s, located at 9 South Anne Street, is an award-winning traditional Irish pub first licensed in 1803. With its cozy atmosphere, authentic Irish dishes, and a selection of local brews, Kehoe’s promises an unforgettable dining experience that embodies the true spirit of Dublin.

Each of these venues offers a genuine taste of Ireland, ensuring a memorable dining experience in the heart of Dublin.

Dance, Music, and More

The celebrations don’t end with the parade. From 2 pm to 5 pm, head over to Merrion Square West for the Céilí Mór le Dearbhla Lennon. It’s a massive outdoor dance event where you can kick up your heels to traditional Irish music. Whether you’re a seasoned dancer or just looking to join in the fun, all are welcome.

For families, the Dublin City Council St. Patrick’s Festival Treasure Hunt is a fantastic way to explore the city. Taking place on Saturday, 15th March, it’s a fun-filled adventure suitable for all ages.

Registration takes place at Dublin City Council Civic Offices on Wood Quay from 10am-12pm with music, performances and prizes for best dressed on theme (Adventures), best team name and much more.
