Bang restaurant brings fine dining to the lunchtime rush…
Bang Restaurant is one of Dublin’s top-rated and best restaurants with the most recent 2014 recommendations from The Michelin Guide, Trip Advisor Certificate of Excellence, Paolo Tullio, and McKennas guides. They offer exceptional quality food at great value, in relaxed and informal surroundings. Bang was nominated for best chef and best service in 2014. Rated in the Top 3 Private Dining Rooms in Dublin. They offer a vegetarian menu and coeliac-suitable dishes.
The Dine in Dublin team visited Bang to sample their new lunch menu last Wednesday afternoon. Bang is a long-established restaurant and has managed to hold on to its great reputation by making subtle but lasting changes over time. We were greeted by their ever-pleasant manager and shown to our seats in the balcony area near the reception. The restaurant oozes class and has a very eloquent feel to it. For most people, lunchtime is about a rush to a deli and a cheap sandwich but this has changed our outlook on what the lunchtime hour can bring to someone’s day. It was a welcome respite from the busy rush of DublinTown and although the restaurant is on one of the busiest streets in the City it has a very calming feel to it. It is much more spacious than I remember and has a very nice private dining room, The Scott Talon Gallery Room, which can accommodate up to 44 people.
The new lunch menu has some very unique offerings and is of great value considering the very high standard that the restaurant adheres to. My favourite dish of the day was the Kilkenny rose veal meatballs, spaghetti & pine nut gremolata. The sauce was light and seasoned to perfection and the veal meatballs were full of flavour. The team favourite was the risotto of parsnip, walnuts, grapes & Brie de Mieux which had them fighting over the last bite. Considering we were on a “work” lunch and were sitting comfortably with a view of Merrion Row we decided to stay a little longer and sample some desserts… And boy, were we glad we did. The dark chocolate bar, raspberry sorbet & gru de cacao was such a nice way to top off a delightful lunch. Check out the new lunch menu below.
