The electronic brotherly duo, Le Boom, has just revealed details of a secret party taking place tonight as part of the official Culture Night Dublin programme.
The Navan music makers will be taking over Meeting House Square, at the heart of Temple Bar, for a Culture Night celebration to remember. As with all Culture Night events, with the support of Dublin City Council and the Arts Council of Ireland: the gig is completely free to attend.
The group, who are fresh from their secret gig on Electric Picnic’s Trailer Park Stage, has been keeping the Culture Night party under wraps for weeks now, revealing details this morning live on air to presenter Lottie Ryan on the RTÉ 2fm Laura Fox show. In a statement, Le Boom’s Christy Leech remarked:
“There’s always such a class buzz around town on Culture Night. It’s definitely one of the best nights of the year. I’ve been going to it for years, so it’s an honour to be asked to play at it. We’re so excited that the Culture Night Dublin team got fully behind us in allowing us to throw one of our secret gigs bang slap in the middle of it all in Meeting House Square—what a class space for a dance. Dublin gigs always feel like home, so I really can’t wait for this.”
Le Boom is about to head on their Australian tour next month, with tickets for their winter Vicar Street gig already sold out. Tonight’s secret gig will take place between 10:30 PM and 11:30 PM, and the organisers have stressed that those wishing to attend should arrive at Meeting House Square earlier in the evening, as capacity is strictly limited to 450 on a first-come, first-served basis.
Elsewhere on Culture Night, disco heaven awaits at Dame Street’s Central Plaza, with proceedings kicking off at 9 PM with DJ Paddy Fabulous, followed by DJ Shrem, who will celebrate the glittering late-70s and early-80s golden era of disco.
Dublin’s Capel Street is set to erupt into a high-energy tribute to Ireland’s electrifying underground dance music scene, and for those looking to extend the night into the early hours, Nocturnal Beats, a special late-night music trail supported by the City’s Night-Time Economy Advisor, will offer DJ sets across some of the city’s most iconic venues, including Block, Pygmalion, Wigwam, The Grand Social, Tengu, Whelan’s, Fidelity, and The Big Romance. Entry to all venues will be free on the night.
Culture Night Dublin takes place tonight, Friday September 19th citywide. For full programme details see culturenight.ie
