Independent Businesses to visit now that the city is reopen

  • Wed, 1 Apr 2020

One of the best things about Dublin city is the independent businesses, there’s no time like the present to make a list of places to visit now that the city has reopened!

As the saying goes, absence makes the heart grow fonder, and boy are we all getting fonder of our favourite independent business knowing we can’t visit them right now.

In order to remember who we love and want to support, why not devise a list of places to visit in the city when we overcome this pandemic.

Here’s a list of some unique Independent businesses to help get you started:

Tales for Tadpoles

This store celebrates the wonderful world of Children’s illustrations old and new. It’s a haven for gifts and books for children of all ages.

The Kitchen Whisk

Let’s face it, being safe indoors has turned us into wannabe chefs, bakers and artisan bread makers but there’s so much more we need to learn. What better place to keep up our new found love for all things cooking then in The Kitchen Whisk, where they have everything you need (and didn’t know you needed) for your kitchen.

Appassionata Flowers

Whats not to love about the sweet smell of fresh flowers. When things get back to normality why not get some flowers for a loved one before you go to see them for the first time in weeks. The team in Appassionata Flowers create beautiful, unique arrangements that will have you buying a bunch as a gift not just for your family or friends, but also for yourself!

New Moon

Magpie’s rejoice! When this is all over we can get our fix of all things shiny and sparkly, that includes going into New Moon to scour through their beautiful selection of silver jewellery purchasing as many as we can so we can wear them for all to see.

Designist

When it comes to unique gifts and homeware, designist on South Great George’s Street has what you need. This shop is filled to the brim of design-led products from Irish and International designers who have been given a platform by this very creative independent business.

Mr Middleton

This small yet epic garden store on Mary Street will be the go to place when you want to do you garden up or get some indoor plants to spruce up your home. The award winning store has hundreds of plant and seed types to keep those green fingers working hard!

MusicMaker

Music is often the best medicine and it can lift a mood in seconds. For anyone who is lucky enough to play an instrument or if you know someone who can, make MusicMaker your first pit stop after the restrictions are lifted and help lift your mood with a new guitar, drum kit or any music instrument of choice.

Maktus

As soon as you walk into Maktus you’ll find yourself smiling before you’ve even bought anything! Humour is the forefront of this alternative gift and souvenir store that’s located in George’s Street Arcade. Whether it’s a print, cup or a greeting card with a difference, we have no doubt you’ll find it here!

Rambler’s Way

Once we are back going on adventures, walks up the mountains, hikes in Howth or you’re just in need of good rain gear, it’s best to stop off at Rambler’s Way on Mary Street. This outdoor adventure store has everything you need from camping gear to rainproof socks!

All these stores and the many other independent stores across the city will be very grateful for any support you can give them. They all hope to see customers back in their stores very soon. If you have a favourite independent store, let us know by using #DublinTown.
