This week’s Street of the Week is…. Westmoreland Street!

But when was the last time you visited a street out of the norm? Each week, DublinTown is going to focus on one of the streets in the city, giving you a little history and showing you some of the great businesses in the area that make it worth visiting. And for this week we bring you Westmoreland Street.

A little history…
Westmoreland Street is named after John Fane, the 10th Earl of Westmoreland, who was Lord Lieutenant of Ireland from 1789 to 1794.
The genesis of Westmoreland came in the late 18th century when a plan was submitted and approved by Parliament to provide a link with a new bridge across the River Liffey and joining up with a new continuation of Sackville Mall beyond Drogheda Street. It is still one of the widest streets in Dublin.
