Dublin Pride Shop Opens on Clarendon Street
- Fri, 15 Jun 2018
PRIDE Month is in full swing in Dublin Town, and to celebrate the Dublin Pride Shop has officially opened on Clarendon Street in the Creative Quarter.
A wonderful celebration that takes place every year in the capital, and across the nation, this year’s Dublin Pride Shop has opened its doors to the public on Wednesday, 13th June ahead of the official kick off of the Dublin Pride Festival & Parade later this month.
Eddie McGuinness, the Dublin Pride Festival & Parade Manager, is delighted to welcome all to their new shop. “The Dublin Pride Shop will be an info point for people about the festival and parade,” says Eddie. Dublin Pride will run from 21st-30th June.
People can expect traditional and fun merchandise with plenty of rainbows and a lot of love. There are t-shirts that bear different slogans and logos including ‘Love Is Love’ and ‘Pride 2018’ as well as mini tutu skirts in rainbow pastels, flags, hairbands and whistles, floral necklaces, bow ties and much more.
Along with the festival and parade, the Dublin Pride Shop also has their ‘Quare Bear’ displays that read LGBTQ+ when put together. These cute-as-a-button bears have already attracted the attention of the media, the community and children, which beautifully ties into this year’s theme of “We Are Family”.
In addition to all of the above, the Dublin Pride Shop will have copies of Charlie Bird’s book ‘A Day in May’ for sale at €13.99 to coincide with the wall-size image of the poster, as well as an incredible mural painted by Dublin street artist Fink.
This mural features a multitude of colours as well as the tradition Pride rainbow, but also highlights 100 Years since women were given the vote in Ireland. A Celtic flavour to it with a stained glass effect, Fink wanted to give us a regal portrayal of women to signify this centenary.
The shop will be open 12-9pm daily, however on Pride Day, June 30th, the shop will close and temporarily move over to Stephen’s Green South then Smithfield to coincide withe the parade. You can find the Dublin Pride Shop on Clarendon Street, which is based opposite the back entrance of The Westbury Hotel.
