The seventeenth edition of this yearly celebration will take place on Friday, September 23, with special programming at venues and cultural institutions all throughout the city. This year will be distinct from previous years because of its emphasis on Ireland’s nighttime economy. Culture Night 2022 will highlight activities that last long beyond midnight. These events will take place all around Dublin, including the Docklands, Temple Bar, the North & South Georgian Quarter, the Liberties, Phoenix Park, and other locations. Some of this year’s highlights will include museum tours, gallery exhibitions, cinema screenings, music gigs, and performances.

1) Dublin Painting and Sketching Club: Annual Exhibition
The work of its members embraces all mediums and styles, within the broad genre of representational art. Each artist exhibits two paintings in the annual show which is made up of almost 200 works.

2) Art, Heritage and Theatre
Explore the world of Bewley’s café to learn about its rich history, see the exquisite Harry Clarke stained glass windows and the substantial Bewley’s collection of contemporary paintings and sculptures. Enjoy a special Culture Night cocktail in the James Joyce room, whilst browsing an art exhibition from local Irish artists. The Bewley’s Cafe is a Culture Night destination not to be missed!

3) Panoramic City Night Tour
Discover the city’s unique nightlife on board our Dublin Night Tour. Hop on for a one-hour panoramic journey around the city as it comes to life after dark. Along the way, you’ll be entertained by our expert guide, who’ll share facts and stories about the city’s fascinating history, culture and architecture.

4) Guinness Storehouse
The Guinness Storehouse will welcome up to 1,000 complimentary ticket holders to the Home of Guinness, our world-class visitor attraction which celebrates the magic of Guinness?past, present and future and showcases the history, heart, and soul of Ireland’s most adored beer.

5) Culture Night Comedy at The Grand Social
Some of Ireland’s top comedians kick off your culture night with a post-work/pre-boogy evening of comedy in The Grand Social!

6) Dublin Comic Market
Join Dublin City Comics on Culture Night for a market showcasing local writers, artists and other creatives. They’ll have signings, sketches and limited prints from some of their local comic creators.

7) Exploring Viking and Medieval Dublin
Dublinia, located at the heart of Viking and Medieval Dublin, is a step back in time and a journey through the city as it was back then. Experience what life was like onboard a Viking warship, visit a Viking house, take a trip down a Viking street, and learn of the myths and the mysteries surrounding the Vikings and their legacy. See a magnificent range of Viking and Medieval artefacts, and experience an immersive audio-visual show of one man’s life growing up in Medieval Dublin.

8) Film Screenings at Outhouse Theatre
GAZE LGBTQ+ Film Festival presents new film works that elevate diverse voices of Ireland’s LGBTQ+ community.
Films will be introduced and there will be a 10 minute break between screenings.
6pm: Voices From Afar (25min) by Gay Health Network Five personal stories from people not born in Ireland but who live here now. Bulelani, Jordi, Alejandro, Pradeep and Preet explore themes of homophobia, racism, sexual and mental health, and direct provision. Intimate, up close, real and personal; their truths compel us to listen and think.
This screening will be followed by in-conversation with film team and participants (25 min)
7pm Tír na mBeo – The land of the living (57 min) by Pradeep Mahadeshwar Pradeep’s art and activism is about giving a platform to diversity. Tír na mBeo shows a new Queer Irish cultural landscape that is vibrant and diverse. People of different sexualities, genders, body types, skin colours and ethnicities share untold queer stories from the pandemic and beyond.
This screening will be followed by in-conversation with Pradeep. (25 mins)
