A Fun Day Out at The National Wax Museum Plus
- Sat, 4 May 2019
Be a tourist for a day with a visit to the National Wax Museum Plus.
Looking for something to do in Dublin over the weekend? Then head on over to the National Wax Museum Plus for some guaranteed fun and laughs!
The DublinTown team recently popped by to have a visit and the experience is a great day out that’s perfect for everyone, young and old alike. Open 7 days a week from 10am to 10pm, the wax museum moved to their current location on Westmoreland Street in 2017 with new exhibits and an augmented reality app to allow for a more interactive experience.
The museum has 3 floors for visitors to discover and they even have a new Virtual Reality Experience for everyone to try out in the Science and Discovery section. The building is laid out in a way that allows you to take a journey through the mythology, history and culture of Ireland – all while seeing some famous and familiar faces!
Of course, a visit to the wax museum wouldn’t be complete without an opportunity to pose with your favourite entertainers in the Hall of Fame featuring Elvis, David Bowie, Michael Jackson and more. Jedward is there too, so pose away however you want! There is also the Writers Room – a bright, airy space overlooking O’Connell Bridge and the Liffey, with Ireland’s distinguished writers such as Oscar Wilde and James Joyce on display there.
Kids will no doubt enjoy the colourful room of Wax World which is filled with childhood favourites such as Harry Potter, Spongebob Squarepants, Batman and more. For those who are on the lookout for a scarier experience, then The Chamber of Horrors is the room you’d want to be in. Perhaps not for the faint of heart but if you want to experience the world of horror for yourself then step right in!
All in all, it’s great fun and you can even get a wax mould of your hand at the end of the self-guided tour, which makes for a perfect souvenir.
