Gandharva Loka: The World Music Store is a unique store on George’s Street that’s home to traditional Irish and multicultural instruments, owned by Irishman Sadanand Magee.
Within this music store, you’ll find instruments from around the world including China, Africa, India and of course Ireland. An established music store in Dublin, Gandharva Loka recently moved to George’s Street from Temple Bar, where owner and manager Sadanand Magee and his team are enjoying the atmosphere and community of the Creative Quarter.
The music store is the ideal spot to find new instruments to upkeep your musical talents, or perhaps you’re looking for something to encourage your younger ones to pick one up.
The name Gandharva Loka was given to the store by Sri Chinmoy as it is in the ancient Sanskrit language that means ‘The Abode of the Celestial Musicians’. As a Peace-Lover Sri Chinmoy envisioned Gandharva Loka to be a place where everyone could explore the joy and wonder of music, in turn inspiring their creativity. Gandharva Loka’s first store came into being in 1989 in Zurich, and they also have sister stores in Berlin, Vienna, Salzburg, Christchurch and Reykjavik.
