You haven’t experienced Dublin until you’ve experienced Bewley’s Cafe on Grafton Street, one of Dublin’s most iconic and celebrated landmarks.
In 1835 Samuel Bewley and his son Charles dared to break the East India Company’s monopoly by importing chests of tea directly to Ireland. A fresh brew with a scone and jam is the local choice over which the gift of the gab takes place. Take a pew and watch the city perform its day with Bewley’s famous daily theatre.
Bewley’s Grafton Street reopened its doors in November 2017. Following a multi-million- euro refurbishment, the much-loved café has been restored to create a bigger, brighter and better-than- ever customer experience.
As well as serving the very best coffees and teas, many elements of the original café have been carefully restored including the Harry Clarke windows, the historic front façade of the café and the open fireplaces. There are also many new additions to the café including the complete refurbishment of Johnson’s Court and an expanded in-café bakery which allows visitors to see some of Europe’s finest pastry chefs and bakers create the unique and delicious treats on offer, including the beautiful Bewley’s Café Gourmand, Coffee Opera Cake and, original favourite, the Bewley’s Mary Cake.
