Who doesn’t love free stuff! We do, and for that reason, we are here to help you find the best things to do in Dublin City that won’t cost you a penny!

Seamus Heaney Exhibition Bank of Ireland College Green

The Seamus Heaney Exhibition: Listen Now Again, celebrates the life and work of one of Ireland’s greatest writers. This is the first exhibition to launch in the new Bank of Ireland Cultural and Heritage Centre at College Green. It focuses on the poetry for which Seamus Heaney is best known, and features original manuscripts, letters, unpublished works, diary entries, photographs and personal objects.

Walk in Stephen’s Green Park

Don’t forget, Dublin City has one of the prettiest park’s in the city in the form of Stephen’s Green Park. Here you can feed the ducks, enjoy the scenery, take the kids to the playground or enjoy the acoustics of the band stand, that often has bands playing music in the summer. It’s also housed a yoga class or two!

Visit a Museum

Dublin has it’s fair share of museums and galleries and for anyone interested in visiting them, the following are free to enter.

National Gallery of Ireland, Merrion Square West their general collection is FREE. Founded in 1854, it houses a rich collection of over 16,300 artworks. Spanning the history of western European art, from around 1300 to the present day, the collection includes well-known artists from Mantegna and Titian to Monet and Picasso. Paintings, sculpture, prints, drawings, photography, archival and bibliographical material all feature, in addition to objets d’art, silverware and furniture

Natural History Museum, Merrion Sq Upper. Also known as the ‘Dead Zoo’, here you can explore the unique world of the natural world with a wide ranging and comprehensive zoological collection including some very interesting skeletons and insects!

Hugh Lane Gallery, Parnell Street. This gallery is home to one of Ireland’s foremost collections of modern and contemporary Irish and international art

Abbey Theatre, First Free Preview. Ireland’s National Theatre gives away thousands of free tickets through its series of Free First Previews, which includes performances on both their Abbey and Peacock Stages. This great initiative is on a first come first serve basis. Check out abbeytheatre.ie for more details.
