The Old Stand

The Old Stand has been around for well over 300 years and, because of its prominent location and affluent surroundings, it has always enjoyed a rip-roaring trade. Its name hints at its closest sporting identity – rugby. In fact, the name came from a rugby stand at Lansdowne Road which is now demolished. During the War of Independence, the pub was visited by none other than Michael Collins, whose offices were close by.
